Tourist information of COSTA DAURADA.
The Costa Dorada is the northern most coastal area of southern Catalonia. It extends from Cunit to the delta of the Ebro and owes its name to the golden color that acquires the sand of its beaches in the sunshine. Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda are some of its best-known tourist towns
The architectural ensemble of Tarragona was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2000. There you can visit great monuments of the Roman era such as the circus and the amphitheater. The aqueduct of Les Ferreres in the outskirts, also known as Puente del Diablo, is one of the most emblematic Roman monuments due to its extraordinary good state of preservation.
Other interesting visits in the area are: Reus with its great heritage of Catalan modernism, the walled town of Montblanc, the castle of Tamarit and the Cistercian Monasteries of Poblet and Santes Creus, where several kings of the Crown of Aragón lie.
What to do on COSTA DORADA?.
The Costa Dorada also has a wide range of leisure activities, including the well-known theme parks of Port Aventura and Ferrari Land, as well as 3 large water parks: Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, Aquopolis and Aqualeon.
Nature lovers will also be able to enjoy this area. The outstanding presence of mammals and raptors characterizes the interior mountain ranges of the Montsant Natural Park and the Prades Mountains. Inside and on the coast, there are different small protected areas with a high diversity of birds and landscapes of marshes and dunes.
Wine tourism has one of its highlights on the Costa Dorada, as this area has six designations of origin wine and cava. The vineyards, almost centenarian, make up a large part of the landscape of this area. Excursions to wineries are common, where in addition to know the process of winemaking, tastings can be made.
